Meeting with PS Health

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen,

On 27th April 2020 a health stakeholders meeting took place at the office of PS Health.

Nutrition was represented by Kenya Union of Nutritionists and Dietitians (KUNAD), Nutrition Association of Kenya (NAK) and Kenya Community Nutritionists Association (KECONA).

As a Union we were represented by Ms Esther Nduta Karanja.

She was given opportunity to talk on behalf of Nutrition Department and she presented the following;

  1. Issue of employment of Nutritionists.
  2. Issue of Risk allowance and Commuter allowance.
  3. Also asked for levies on enteral and parenteral feeds including minimising taxes and levies on them.

She also handed over a letter addressing the same issues as had been written by the Nation Executive Committee of the union.

We therefore ask Nutritionists to be patient and focus as we are committed to handling these matters for the benefit of all stakeholders in Nutrition and Dietetics. We are aware that this country needs at least 9100-10000 Nutritionists to operate at straining level under MoH but we only have 1372 currently.

Sincere Regards,
Ouma Odero M.
Interim Secretary General
KUNAD.
